Hoverla is the highest point of the Ukrainian Carpathians

altThe height of Hoverla is 2061 m above sea level. The mountain is located on the border of the Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions, 17 km from the border of Ukraine with Romania. At the very top there is a small flat platform from which it is convenient to contemplate the charming landscapes spread out under your feet. And there is something to see there: mountain villages, wooded slopes dotted with rivers, streams and trails, the peaks of the Carpathian ridges in the distance ...

The mountain is located within two protected areas: the Carpathian National Natural Park and the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve. The local climate is famous for its severity and unpredictability. Even in summer, clouds can come up and hail or snow can fall on a hot day. On the slopes of the mountain there are beech-fir forests, a little higher they are replaced only by fir trees. The older the forest, the thicker the thickets of ferns. More than 100 species of exotic plants grow on the slopes of the highest mountain of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
