Kamenets-Podolsky fortress is a fortification that originated in the era of feudalism and is still a monument of military architecture of the time. The first part is the Old Fortress (Old Castle), which defended the approach to the isthmus between the peninsula. Old Castle is the central part of the fortress, which is an irregular quadrangle of castle walls, with eleven towers on the perimeter, and an area of more than five hectares. Also on the west side is the New Tower (Great Tower), which is in the form of a pentagon and which once protected the Day Tower from the southwest. To the right of the entrance to the castle grounds rises the Black Tower (New East Tower), which protected the approaches to the castle from the north. This tower was repeatedly distinguished during the battles, it was severely damaged, however, later the tower was restored. The architectural feature of the tower is a well with wooden wheels for lifting water, which is 4.5 m in diameter. The well is 40 meters deep.
